The Reaper was certainly, to me, the cruelest and most frightening of all unsubs and the episodes leading to Haley's terrible murder just almost impossible to get through whenever they are shown. I certainly understood Hotchner's response in beating him as he did, after all the horror, stalking, and murderous plots against him and his wife and son. (And what is with the woman overseeing Hotch in several episodes? As I've said, she has apparently no field experience that is comparable to anything he and his team go through all the time! A person who hasn't been there should not be in charge of judging him and the team, and I think that shows up later on!) do hope that the FBI, our best institution and hope of the world (as I've said often), has a good plan for such situations in the future, since one U. S. marshall, no matter how competent and vigilant and incredibly brave this one was, can deal with such terror. The minds of such criminals as the Reaper are ALWAYS working on this kind of terror, as those who don't have this kind of mentality may not understand. The profiling the FBI does really can be amazing in helping law enforcement understand and, especially, appreciate these criminals' next moves.
My very favorite unsub on Criminal Minds is Adam-Amanda, and I hope that you will let that actor--I'm sorry to have missed his name on the credits--know what an excellent actor I think he is. He is just terrific in such a difficult role! I don't tire of any episode, but especially this one continues to instruct. I think it could well be shown and discussed in psych classes of all kinds! When I first saw it, I was struck by his demeanor in the emergence of Amanda, just as Spencer commented: the eye contact when there had been none, the standing up straight suddenly, the arrogance and, I think, true outrage expressed in his eyes and body language and voice w/o the show of suppressed violence at that moment. As his woman friend said, "Adam, you're scaring me," shortly before he shoved her off the roof. I've seen that look and body language in one person who has stalked me for years. I'm not sure if the role was meant to depict a transgendered person, but I think it could. Clearly, Spencer wants to keep talking to Amanda, in hopes of sometime finding Adam again. I really hope that the show has plans to bring Spencer and Amanda back together in therapy, if such therapy continues in real time. Thanks so much! It is simply fascinating, especially when Amanda emerges for the last time on that roof as Adam is apparently lost forever. I hope that the actor who portrays Adam-Amanda gets an Emmy! Please tell him! Thanks so much for this episode, the show and all the FBI does! I continue, as I have since the 1960s, to want to help the magnificent FBI. And by the way, speaking of unsubs, a man told me at a local cleaners that his name is "Linnie," "as in Mice and Men" and then I saw that episode on TV right after that! I later confirmed with the man that he had said that. Does that mean that he was trying to convey to me something re a local pedophile? Maybe the FBI should look into that. It could be, too, that the main killer ID thief in my case thinks of himself as Linnie and had asked the cleaners employee to let me know. I think he follows my whereabouts all the time and calls in to local establishments when I stop at them.
I continue to emphasize the show's educational value. And thanks to the FBI for locating and securing the bomb in Oklahoma today. As you know, I have posted to you re Oklahoma, too, at times.
