  • Dead Time:waking up at 3:00 am

I was adopted at the age of 3 into a loving family but the fact of the matter is I caught a episode called the dark man on paranormal state and they mentioned dead time something about the spirits are more active at that hour well it literally brought a tear to my eye. Ever since I can remember as a kid growing up I would wake up every single night at between 3 and 3 30 in either night terrors or cold sweats I would pase the hall way between my parents room and the bath room making sure every light was on because when the lights were off I felt energy that didnt belong , In fears that for some reason I would tell my parents that I felt things in the dark and would often see shadows that shouldnt be there my parents would send me away to a asylum they never would but being a kid in my position you tend to grow a complex , So I would lie to my parents in the middle of the night and blame it on stomache pains and of course they sent me to the doctors upon numerious times and found nothing wrong with me, when I turned 15 I wasnt waking up so often but when I did it still to this day is between the hours of 3 and 4 . I have always been able to sense energies but im self concious at times that maybe its something I developed in my head seing shadows sensing energy having bad feelings and my relationship with this "Dead Time" I have tried and googled the dead time and have gotten a tiny answer or so but Im still searching and need help on the subject, I feel as if either something is following me and sometimes a force is waching over me both bad and good , and also or if my ability to sense energy and feel things a gift or something to try to get rid of , I would appreciate any insight or information At 27 I am now coming out and owning up to occurances that have been happening my whole life,

Children are able to sense and detect energy and spirits more so than adults. My daughter use to talk to the old man in the closet. I had several experiances as a child all the way through my adult years. I am not a psychic by any means, but somehow I "just understand" certain things. My daughter is the same way. She's 16 now and can still see things periodically. There's nothing wrong with you. I believe that spirits do visit during this time whether good or bad. I choose to believe more so that it is relatives that have passed on and are checking on me. If I feel fear, I say the Lord's prayer and often find that that is enough. If this does not help you, light a vanilla scented candle (I like the vanilla cupcake candle from wal-mart) I'd keep it next toyour bed for the more difficult nights. Vanilla is believed by some (I believe) to ward off evil. Not to mention it smells good, brings in warm memories of cupcakes, and will help you relax. Good luck on this. I have only woken at 3 am a few times in the last year.

I have just learned to accept what I experience. Its become nothing different that anyother aspect of my life. Eventually, when you learn some control and have more comfort in it, it won't be any different to you than eating or anyother daily actuiivity you don't think about. The key is don't dwell on it or over think it. And whatever you do, don't fear it. You have control and if you fear it you will lose that control and the more negative energy that will be drawn to you. And never ever go seeking out evil. Once open that door is hard to close. I highly suggest that you never touch a wegie board either. Those  things are trouble and the one time I did, it took a lot to get the reprocussions away. If you need anymore help, let me know. I'll be glad to help anyway I can. ljacques_02@yahoo.com. Take care!

hi. when i first heard that same thing on the show, it surprised me because there was a time in my life that i was on the brink of a great spiritual experience, but didn't know it. i've always been "sensitive" and more. anyway, i couldn't seem to stay asleep and kept waking at that time. what i found out is hard to put into words (how it works). apparently that is prime time for listening for/to your higher power/holy spirit or whatever you want to call that sort of guidence. my understanding is that it is also prime time for various holy men, nuns, monks, ect. for the same reason. what i would try at that time is to meditate, deep steady breathing, repeating to your self a phrase such as "me and god are one" or "i am a beloved son of the creator of all".  something along those lines that feels good, natural and true for you. by all means create a little alter for yourself. use small but significant items, such as a card given to you by a love one, a memento of a happy time, a photo, maybe a little plant or stone that you love. things that make you feel loved and remind you that you are loved. lite a candle there, and give yourself over to inviting the love and guidence of the universal mind. you can say a little prayer first for protection such as let the light and the love of the lord surround me and protect me and then feel that light and the goodness that you are in.  in my case something really good was watching over me and  was trying to get my awareness of that fact. feel free to contact me if you wish to share further. god bless.

  • Waking at the same time every night

I one time woke up at 3:33 on the dot for several nights in a row. I often wonder if my deceased friend was trying to get in touch with me. I always ask her to show me if she's around. She died very unexpectedly of a heart attack.

  • RE: Dead time discomfort?

Night is defenitely a high activity time for Spirit activity but I think everyone has a habbit of getting up some time during the night. Some of the time I get an uncomfortable nervous feeling as well during what some call dead time. I usually just drink a cup of sweetened warm milk and take one asparin. It usually does the trick for me and I sleep really well after that. Hope that this helps you. Blessings to you and yours.

Like you, as a child I would wake in the early hours- I remember being afraid to leave my bed, or look around the room- praying frantically until I fell back asleep. This has continued on, sporadically through adulthood- and lately it's occurred exactly at 3:22 every night. Now the fear isn't so present, just a sudden wakefulness with 'all systems go'. Everyone else- husband, pets- are sound asleep, so I know it isn't an enviromental noise. Curious.
I never heard of the exact phrase 'dead time' before this show in this context- though it makes sense. In physics, 'dead time' describes the time between an event occuring and reoccuring. In social science, it has been used to describe the overlap between live tradition (where a process is an active part of a culture) and history (where the tradition is remembered, but not practiced). In other words, an overlap between what has been and now- which seems to describe the connect between the physical and spiritual worlds.

According to the show, Dead Time is the anti-hour. This refers to the opposite hour of when Christ died. I, personally, had never heard this until this show aired. Can anyone else find reference to this time as being Dead Time prior to PS?

Both my mother and myself have frequently wakened at the same time every night. She always wakes up at 3:36 and I wake up at 4:24. After really thinking about it, trying to determine if neighbors were doing something at that time, and research, we came to the conclusion that the times we each awoke was the approximate time we were born.

I can't say whether this is the same for everyone else, but I found it interesting that both my mom and I could trace our wake up times to the times we were born.

I would be curious to know if you came up with the same thing.

If you found anything it would likely be bs. "Dead time" is original to PS. According to Ryans book he had written 3:00am Dead Time on a notepad during the taping of the first show and the producers ate it up. Dead time meaning a time with minimal electrical interference during the "anti-hour".

Anti hour is somewhat heard of but everyone disagree's on when it is.  Supposedly the opposite time of Christ's death but that's an incredible stretch. Jesus died in the 9th hour (Mark 15:33-34) however vs 33 is clear that it was dark and been for 3 hours. Considering our calendar and how we mark time is vastly different than it was 2000+ years ago it seems impossible to pin down.

And what about simple things like daylight savings or time zones? Do we really think a spirit is going to respect the rules of Pacific vs Eastern?

So why are you waking up at 3am? Could be something with your sleep cycle, could be when your defenses are down. I would be more concerned about what you are experiencing rather than when.
