Okay, I know a little about this topic, but I want other peoples opinions. I've done research about the myths of people who are born with a veil over their face. And I know my great grandmother was born with a veil, and now, that I know of, 4 people in my family have some sort of psychic abilities, from precognitive dreams to psychic/mediumship or just knowing when something bad is going to happen. So I have mulitple questions for people. Do you think that a relative being born with a veil started the psychic abilities in families? Do you know of anyone who was born with a veil over their face at birth? Thank you. Blessed Be.

 

As far as most researches have been able to determine in this field, the idea that the amniotic sac (forming the caul) coming out with the baby has nothing to do with psi abilities or the generation thereof. It's just a normal biological thing that happens, and also happens to look weird when it does. End of Line.

You're absolutely right. But is based on folklore. At one time it was comsidered good luck to be born with a veil. In fact my own grandmother (born in Appalachian mountains iin late nineteenth century) believed this and when one of her children was born with a veil she saved it. It was considered especially lucky since he was a seventh son. He never displayed any psychic ability though as far as I know.

Most of my post was directed at MediumGirl who asked if anyone knew someone born with a veil. Just so happens I knew someone who was. It may be nitpicking but I object to folklore being referred as urban myth - the belief predates alligators in the sewer. A lot of what modern pagans practice can be directly traced to similar folklore. My grandmother would mix herbs to heal and made amulets to protect against evil spirits. It's a subject I've always found fascinating. I wish she was still alive so I could pick her brain.

Hi...I know this topic is a little old, but it deserves some real answers.

I'm Shannon Lee Wolf, the founder of Caul Bearers United - Lifting the Veil.  I launched my first website a year and a half ago because there just wasn't any real information available online about caul bearers.  Plus I would have people approach me online who were caul bearers, that somehow knew that I knew about the caul/veil gifts...as I was also born with the caul, as was my brother.  My husband is also a caul bearer, and I have many forum members who were born as such too.  All have very special gifts!

But...to answer your question, Mediumgirl, it does seem that caul bearers tend to run in families, as do psychic gifts.

I was born with a veil so was my older brother and older sister. All three of us have wierd dreams. Like 3 weeks ago i dreamed about somtheing that happened at school well friday i was siting it class and i had a feeling of dej ah vu, and i swear to god it is the samething i dreamed about. Well my sister had a dream bout my aunt dieing and well so she came home to spend time with her and two days later she died. My brother has seen a spirit at the end of his bed before by one of our dead relatives.....I use to tell my parents about all my dreams and well alot of them would happen. So call It what you want but me, i believe in it!!!!!

I can attest that my mother and I were approached by two strange women when I was 5 at a local neighborhood store. They told my mom that I had a 'veil over me'. I have been trying to figure out what this meant for over 35 years. I found the answer 2/2/13. The explanation explains all of the weird things that have occurred in my life. Dreams that come true, picking up 'vibes' from people, seeing people that others don't, being touched by invisible entities, auras and the list goes on. Now I'm on a quest to learn my calling.
