    Sell This House Extreme

A&E's long running hit series Sell This House: Extreme is back and bigger than ever. Host Tanya Memme and construction expert Charlie Frattini join forces with new designer Daniel Kucan to create a triple tiered approach to extreme renovation and home staging in an effort to help desperate homeowners prepare their difficult-to-sell spaces for today's tough real estate market.

In the new season of Sell This House: Extreme Tanya and Charlie continue to confront looming deadlines, hidden cameras, and unpredictable homeowners. Now with the help of a new partner, unconventional and often dramatic design expert Daniel Kucan, the team will tackle massive renovations. Tough as nails construction expert Charlie smashes through walls, blows out ceilings, tears out complete kitchens and bathrooms, and anything else on Daniel's never-ending list of improvements while Tanya utilizes her very best diplomatic skills to keep them both in line. Extreme times call for extreme measures, and in today's tough real-estate market it's going to take a lot more than de-cluttering and rearranging furniture to get a home sold.

Hate the drama on this show. Can't stand Charlie and his YELLING.  I watch these shows for design ideas not fake drama between Charlie and Roger.  I've been a big fan of the original STH but not sure how much longer I can the extreme behavior on STH Extreme.

  • Very disappointed in new show's dynamic

I am a long-time fan of the original STH and still enjoy watching the Saturday morning reruns - even if I'm doing something else, the shows run in the background and I look up every once in a while to check in. It's like watching old friends of yours and doesn't get old. The chemistry between Tanya and Roger in the original program was a charming, often cheesy, but always enjoyable blend of two people who respected each other. Tanya displays a gift of natural, girl-next-door, sweetness and has always shown extreme sensitivity to the homeowners and (as in one of this morning's replays) their children. Roger has at times made a few unkind comments about a homeowner's decor, but at least he always seemed to have had the courtesy to be hush-hush or gentle about making them, like he knew it was a naughty thing to do. The charm of the old show is what invites me back each week to re-watch shows I've seen before because I am a fan of the common courtesy and can-do positive attitudes Tanya and Roger portrayed. I think if you look up "perky" in the dictionary, it will show a picture of Tanya.

I was looking forward to watching the new STH:Extreme.....until I saw it. I was very offended by the rudeness and sheer volume of Charlie overpowering everyone else on the show. I did not realize that this was Charlie's show. My mistake. Tanya and Roger have been relegated to supporting cast members of Charlie. I even watched a few more weeks to see if the offensiveness was just a fluke to generate an instant "dialogue" about the show online. It was painful to watch, and I have turned off most of them, not even checking back to see how the finished design turned out. Charlie is such a turn-off that I just don't care how it comes out, and that's an about-face from fan to not a fan any more. It's so offensive to watch such an antagonistic, arrogant man negatively affect the once-charming dynamic that we all loved about the original STH.

I'm still a huge fan of Tanya - cheered for her getting married, felt for her when they decorated her own bland condo, cheered for her when she was pregnant. With the tension caused by Charlie in the show, Tanya's on-screen persona comes across as stressed and overpowered by a man with an abusive mouth. I will not be watching any more episodes of STH:X. If I wanted to inject stress, yelling, rudeness, vulgarity (even Tanya gets bleeped out now), and unprofessional conduct into my day, I'd watch something like "Jersey Shore" or WWE. Charlie's crass behavior is more appropriate for those programs. As for "reality-style" TV, was the old STH scripted? Yeah, but who doesn't know that? I can flip any channel and get people hurling insults and one-upping the other while being cut-throat and having sex behind each other's backs. That's why the Brady Bunch style dynamic of the old STH was so refreshing. It was a clean program oasis floating in the midst of the exhibitionist sewage on the air today.

Charlie eclipses and brings down the entire show and is, unfortunately for Tanya and Roger, an albatross who should be sent packing. Tanya and Roger are the producers: please, guys - ditch Charlie! Everyone makes a bad call once in a while. Cut yourselves loose from the mistake and re-group.

Why not bring in a professional contractor with good inter-personal and camera skills to enhance or complement Tanya and Roger's former on-screen working dynamic? A contractor with an on-screen personality like Scott McGillivray or Carter Oosterhouse would make the program team-oriented with each actor then able to do what they do best instead of everyone competing to be heard or get out of the way of Charlie.

    He's got to go.

  • Charlie

I gotta say these shows usually bore me. But as a masculine gay man I gotta say that Charlie makes the show worth watching, not onl;y because he is a gorgeous man, but I love his attitude. He knows when to argue and when to comply. He obviously knows what he is doing and the chemistry is great. He makes you wanna cheer for him. So now in between football games and Law and Order I have a new favorite show. Good on ya, Charlie!

I suppose everyone has their opinions, it's just that if we voice without being hysterical?
I think people are upset that a happy, fun show has changed, no hysterics here, just complete disappointment.

  • Finally someone with balls on tv.

I was never a big fan of the show. Now I tune in to see what Charlie has to do and say. It is fun to watch him rip out a kitchen and put a whole new one in a matter of 2 days. Now that is how contracting should be done. It took 3 weeks for my contractor to renovate my bathroom. Every other day he had a problem with something or other. I think A&E should go "extreme" with all their shows. Think about it - Gene Simmons Family Jewels - extreme. They should have Charlie come in and slap Gene Simmons and force him to let Ace and Peter back in the band. What about Billy the Exterminator - extreme. Charlie can slap that stupid hat off Billy. And then there can be Storage Wars - extreme. Charlie wins every bid. Who is going to say otherwise. What about Intervention-extreme and Scared straight - extreme...do I even need to go there? Don't get me started. Last but not least, Dog The Bounty Hunter - extreme...never mind the Dog is cool. He doesn't need Charlie's help. Well anyway thanks A&E for adding some excitement to these boring home design shows that are all over the tv.

Did you ever think they brought in a guy like Charlie in for a reason? Maybe to keep viewers like you awake.
I will tune to the Military Channel when I finish watching the latest Lawrence Welk Show rerun. Thanks for the advice rah. Just a thought...for someone who doesn't like the new person on the show, you have to admit he has you talking about him. Happy New Year!!

  • Too much phony drama!!!

We are two long term fans of the show, but all of the yelling and phony conflict on the new version has got us fast forwarding to the end.  I just can't take the obnoxious new guy, and you are trying too hard to make this show like all of the low class reality TV shows.  You have two wonderful people who are so good at what they do, and a proven formula for a great show.  Why ruin it by trying to make it more like everybody else?  Too much yelling, too much drama, too much obnoxious New Yorker.

  • Re: Sell This House - Talk about it here!!

What in the world would the military channel have to do with being able to handle yelling on a home show..I don't want my home show to be like the military...I want my home show to be about homes...and making home - HOME! :) But, I do love hearing everyone's opinions here and especially appreciate and cherish the one on one with you...it is at least, something that I REVEL in, being able to talk for real about our feelings on the show. I do believe that everything will get worked out...it doesn't hurt to have things get shaken up a bit sometimes?

  • "Sell this house "EXTREME is the Best Show EVER on A&E

Ecstatic that A&E decided to add Charlie to the "Extreme" of Sell this House!  It was extremely boring sitting around watching Roger and others push around furniture and paint some walls to add value to a home.  The real value in increasing the selling price of a house is what Charlie is doing, knocking down walls, pulling up and putting down new floors, adding walls, doors, removing doors where they don't belong, builiding furniture and all the other value added work that is being done for the homeowners to get top dollar for their house!!  Charlie adds a sense of humor to the show that didin't exist without him.  The conversations between Roger and Tanya were BORING and we never saw the better sides of Tanya and Roger without Charlie adding a new dynamic.  The only reason Tanya and Roger weren't yelling in the older shows is because they weren't under the pressure Charlie is to get the job done in 3-4 days! Roger has grandious plans on how to remodel the homes by tearing down walls and making round tables and building cabinets and furniture along with all the other ideas Roger has for him to accomplish.  He's the only one under STRESS to get the job done and he deserves to yell and scream and shout as often as he likes because it's him who gets the job done and adds the increased value to the homeowners selling price.  Yes, Tanya does get bleeped every now and then but did you think she was a saint, sure, when all she had to do was make a pillow or two to make the place look better, she looked good but since she also feels the stress of getting the job done, she's a bit stressed too.  What does one expect a person to do when they are under that pressure.  Give Charlie a break, look at what he's doing and the great job he's done after he gets all the work done as Roger directs him to do.  Come on folks, this is a show that helps people see what it takes to improve the selling value of their house.  There isn't a better person to do it but Charlie, he works hard, follows Rogers direction and does a great job in making those homes look GREAT!

A&E, PLEASE keep Charlie on the show, he's an asset and makes the show much more interesting and fun to watch then the boring version with just Tanya and Roger mish mashing around to add very little, if any value to the houses they fixed up in the past.

Tanya, Roger and Charlie make a great team and instead of being negatvie, look at the results and the fun the three of them are having while helping out the homeowners.

I agre EMFH2, they're under incredible stress and I think I would probably be pulling my hair out and trying to ask people a million questions to make things better or easier or faster, or something! But they are consummate professionals and that's why they're doing what they're doing

  • Charlie the Bully

I have watched Sell This House since it first began.  In my area back to back shows run all Saturday morning and I can watch while I do housework, etc.  However, I just can't stand to watch it anymore.  Why?  The new guy, Charlie, is horrible.  I get a headache listening to the New York Italian accent and he never uses his 'indoor voice' but always shouts.  He's horrible.  I don't need any more yelling on my tv.  Please get rid of him before you lose more viewers ..............

As a long time viewer of Sell This House I never felt compelled to write in until now. Charlie is a great addition to the show. He adds life to what was a boring, worn out concept. How many times could we watch roger put out new flowers and put away the family portraits to get a house sold? Charlie adds life to a boring show. When he rips open a wall or floor we never know what he will find. I agree pammie. Someone should go.....and it should be tiger. Now that's a show. Tanya and Charlie work with a new designer every week. Charlie has proven he could build and he works well with Tanya. A&E....keep extreme on just change designers!
Oh and for all you people who say Charlie is too loud...you must be too old. Don't stop Charlie. You're the reason I watch.

  • Re: Sell This House - Talk about it here!!

I think at this point it's pretty well known that this is the way this show and business runs...and it runs VERY well, Tanya and Charlie work well together, and having a new designer come in every week sounds like a great idea. Can you imagine us without this show? It's really good, and I think it would be pretty shocking to have to talk about it with others and think in the back of our heads that there could be a reason to take it off, just because we think someone is too loud...I'm sure the show will continue to adjust.

  • Awful Taste? Use of Neutrals

I have to say Roger is one of the worst TV designers. I'm watching some re-runs of episodes and the use of primary colors (yellow in the hallway, blue in the kitchen, mint green in the bedroom) Has this man heard of netural? Beige, gray, white? It is hard to watch!!!

I'm glad I'm not alone with regard to my opinion of the new show.

I have watched Sell This House every Saturday morning for years, and what I liked best about it was that there was no bad language and no drama - just straightforward home re-dos.  I think the new show would benefit greatly if the same guidelines were observed.  On Charlie, except for his potty mouth, I think he's great.  I think he brings something fresh to the show, but I can't stand his language and I won't listen to it much longer.  On the drama in every show where Tanya expresses doubts of being able to "finish in time"... seriously?  C'mon, folks - we're not that gullible.  We really do know the job will be finished.

Anyway, that's my two cents.  I believe feedback is important...now you have mine.

  • Lack of safety equipment

It is very noticeable that many of your remodelling and DIY type shows lack the necessary safety equipment, particularly safety glasses. Thousands of people are injured annually doing DIY projects. People are smashing items, walls, tile, and concrete which produce shards and high velocity projectiles that can result in serious injury, particularly to the eyes. Charlie is not only one of the worst contractors on TV but also one of the biggest offenders regarding the lack of safety equipment, especially saety glasses. As a Contractor he is required, by law, to ensure that his employees have and use the proper safety equipment. He does not even use any safety glasses himself. As a public service you owe it to your viewers that you believe in and suppot safety on the job and ensure that all participants are properly equiped to be on your shows. You cannot leave this type of thing to the producers since most of them know little or nothing about DIY safety and probably don't care. I have been a Professional Engineer for over 50 years and am continually confronted with the lack of safety equipment on all of the remodelling and DIY programs on all of the channels. Required use safety glasses would be a good start since this injury can be very serious and avoided without a big investment in safety equipment. I look forward to hear from someone at A&E that will tell me that they have changed their I don't care policy.

  • Charlie Frattini

Your audience is mostly women and do-it-yourself designers looking for tips, ideas, and "how to" information. Your audience is not men who like to watch wrestling and boxing! The screaming and yelling between Charlie and Roger detracts from the show and wastes time that could be spent giving us useful information. Men may like to hear men scream at each other, but women don't and we are the ones watching your show. Please stop this foolishness and get serious before you lose your audieince.

  • No... no... no...

The fake drama needs to end... right... now. It's boring and really distracting. The audience isn't THAT stupid. So don't treat us like we are. Plus, Charlie is unbelievably grating. He's constantly yelling or complaining about something. Every time he shows up on screen, you're expecting him to blow up at someone. So far, he hasn't disappointed. I've watched one show, and I'm seriously thinking about removing the series from my DVR. He was yelling at some military guy for working with flowers. Seriously? What is this, 1950? Masculine guys can't do anything artistic? Of course the fact that the star of the show is gay, makes Charlie's comment all the more offensive. Fix the problems, or goodbye Sell This House.

I guess the question is, do you like Charlie enough when he has the occassional, albeit short-lived period of calm? so that it carries over to get you through the really bad stuff with him? Because it seems that most people HERE are saying that this guy is just out of it enough that they would like to have it die out and maybe have smeone else
