  • The REAL STORAGE WARS FAIR & BALANCED FACTS

It's only fair to balance this out. The stories I have provided you and the WARNINGS of storage bin AUCTIONS are TRUE. They are indeed me and my partners REAL WAR STORIES.

BUT IS ONLY FAIR that I also provide the GOOD NEWS. But I also want to WARN you about a couple of other facts about BUYING STORAGE LOCKERS before I spill the goods.

YOU ARE BUYING AND BIDDING on other peoples HARDSHIPS! And sometimes the rest of the story is so sad. It's only fair that you send back to the STORAGE Company personal items. OR BURN IT.

Living in America is not easy. And people make mistakes. And in a weak economy it's harder. You don't need to make things harder for folks. DON'T POST PERSONAL PICTURES, LETTERS, or anything that could make things worst for the folks who just lost everything.

Sometimes you get a bin of JUNK! But to those who lost it! It is their stuff and sometimes all they had. It's sad to get a bin when the kids where forced to take care of a dieing family member, Can't work due to home nursing, And can't make ENDS MEET. Had to move in or out and stored things for this reason. And another thing getting a job in this country is not easy. I expect in 5 more years Half the population will not MEET THE PROFILE STANDARDS. And YET earning a PAYCHECK of MILLIONS with perks and BONUS! They stood at the gate for a BAILOUT? And at the same time set standards for hiring folks like going through HOOPS & LOOPS!

It's easy to live in this world when you have several incomes, Or a nice retirement or just well off and point fingers. You just don't view this things the same. Because your OK. You enjoy the good life. But when you really get out there! Your views WILL change.

We went to a Storage Sale and the Family that lost the unit was there. The Mom and two kids. I DID NOT BID! They had a couple of dollars and the kids wanted a couple of their toys. and the Mom wanted a blanket that her Grandmother made for the kids. It was the type of bin sale they pull things out. There they stood dressed in rags, Watching their stuff go.

WHAT HAPPENED At THAT SALE JUST BROKE MY HEART! And it was not good stuff. But their was this DAVE TYPE THERE!  And he just would not let go. I left. I just could not watch anymore.  And I did not have the funds to help. The kids crying and MOM telling them it will be OK.

At another sale It happened again. This time it was this lady who just wanted the kids clothes. THIS WAS A GOOD DAY! THE DAVE TYPE WAS NOT THERE! And all of us there bidded on the stuff and piled it on the ground and GAVE IT ALL BACK TO THE MOTHER. You could tell she also was having a hard time at it.

It was a GOOD DAY TO BE A AMERICAN JUNKER! But did not help the bottom line.

This is why I really don't care for STORAGE BIN BUYING. I REALLY HATE IT SOMETIMES! But it's something I have to do to keep myself going and make ENDS MEET.

I think in posting here I SHARED THE REAL FACTS AND WARNING About storage unit buying. And it's only fair to balance this.

We have found some FANTASTIC TREASURE ITEMS in the bins. But for keeping score! Out of 100 storage units only 1 may have that FANTASTIC PIECE.

It's also important to note that that out of that 100 bins you may find only one or two FANTASTIC pieces. And over time you may build something out of it.

AS I STATED! WE HAVE YET TO MAKE ANY REAL MONEY out of storage unit buying! We have found some things over the years.  And in the end ONE DAY IT MAY BE WORTH IT. If we can get them sold PROPER!

BUT LOST OF TIME LABOR & the investment of the units. At this time we are in the RED bad.

Just to be FAIR here are some of the good things!

We have a Helicopter. It was all apart And nobody knew it was a Helicopter in the bin. As luck would have it. The Southern Sisters who will auction this knew someone who could put it together before the auction. And wanted to do it for free. Seems it was a Rare Helicopter. And they where excited to get it back together.

We have yet to AUCTION IT! So I don't know. It may be a winner or BUST.

In this same bin we got BUCKETS of Megalodon SHARK FOSSILS. I've been eBaying them. We did OK with this bin at $850.00 It's one of the rare ones out of 100 bins.

We have a 4 ft X 4 ft 24 K GOLDEN HORSE. This is a RARE item. It's done my Texas ARTIST JACK WHITE. And is JACK WHITES GOLDEN HORSE! He is aware of this peice and also provided special information about it. He was surprised it showed up. Have yet to sell it.

Also we have GENE AUTRYS Original Studio HICKORY CARVED SIGN from his home studio. Have yet to sell it.

If you missed it in the blog post. We have a 3 ft X 4 ft painting that was cover with PLASTER over the entire painting. Once the plaster was removed it was a OIL PAINTING. And experts have told us it's worth Millions?  Maybe but we think somebody may of been hiding it. But we only have 5 bucks invested in it. It was the only thing in this bin with a CHAIR?  But this could be the single WINNER. We have it locked away.

There is more. But yes, YOU CAN FIND THINGS!

But look at all my warnings and the REAL war stories I've posted. THEY ARE TRUE STORAGE STORIES FROM THE REAL WORLD! JUNKING IN AMERICA FOR A LIVING I call it. And it's tough.

IS IT WORTH IT. I Don't know yet. BUT IT'S A TOUGH LIVING!

SINCE A&E and all the other shows I expect this to get even harder. Even going out PICKING! American pickers has ruin this nitch! We go out as we have done for years. BUT NOW WE GET! "YOUR THE TENTH PERSON WHOS BEEN OUT HERE THIS WEEK"

So I had to give up running the country. GAS IS TOO EXPENSIVE and it's become yet another joke.

Now STORAGE WARS is making the bin sales like going to a ROCK CONCERT! There us to be about 10 or 12 folks there. Now it's an ARMY!

With PAWN STARS I talked to my buddy that runs a popular pawn star chain. THEY ARE ENJOYING it. Told folks who never bin in a PAWN SHOP are coming in. AND BRINGING SOME FANTASTIC STUFF in with them!

So out of all of this They seem to be the real winners here.

Also AMERICAN PICKERS! Only because they where FIRST to get a SHOW. They will do great with the reruns over the years.

The STORAGE WARS FOLKS! I don't know yet. But they do need to BALANCE this show with the REAL WORLD FACTS.

THE GOOD STUFF IS FAR AND FEW BETWEEN.  IT IS VERY RISKY AND SOMETHINGS DON'T WASH OFF EASY.

BOTTOM LINE DON'T GO OUT THERE AND THROW CRAZY MONEY at STORAGE UNITS. And you better have a strong heart for it.

And if you have it easy and got it made money wise. Enjoy life. IT'S SHORT!  DON'T EVEN GET STARTED IN THIS!

It's not like they are showing you!

OK I think I've had my say in  this. This show has effected ME and others. BALANCE IT OUT! AND SHOW THE REAL STORAGE WARS! THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY! And how about the folks losing there STUFF! You can do good here and help FOLKS if presented correct.

I think a lot of people would enjoy the show more.

A LOT MORE TO THE STORY HERE! SAME WITh American PICKERS. You go out picking without a good BACK UP partner AND STILL YOU MAY JUST STUBBLE INTO SOMETHING YOU WISH YOU NEVER DID!

    Same with STORAGE UNITS!

I Always say. Just like eBaying. IT'S NOT FOR EVERYBODY!

  • STORAGE FACILITY QUESTION ??????????????

When you bid on a storage unit how do you know that the owner of the facility has not gone thru it first looking for valuables ? Is there some type of writing in the renters contract or is it more or an unwritten rule. There must be something in place or the no one would risk the gamble on a bid. There is about 7 of us at work that are hooked on the show and we all have the same question.

  • ???? NO PROPER REGULATIONS INFORCED ????

It's VERY TRICKY! There is no way of really knowing. But there are things to keep in mind. One the original owner in most cases has the RIGHT to pay their late fee's up to AUCTION time. For this reason if the storage company did indeed remove item's they could get in a real mess here! Also the original owner also has a right to bid on their own storage unit in this area. Because of those two reasons the Corporate storage compaines seem a better risk. Most of the time the folks working them don't want to risk their jobs. More so today.
In telling you this. You must also keep in mind that they did indeed have a first look. And even if the goodies are there. They can still provide a PLANT at the auction. Meaning someone may be in the LOOP! That is anybodies guess. Keep in mind they had a REAL GOOD LOOK plus an INNER look. You as a buyer only get a open door look. So games can be played. Like hide that Martin Guitar and we'll get Joe to bid on this one! On the other hand BEWARE if it looks too good up front as well Could be a set up bin. Mom & pop's are more RISKY.. They play many more games. You learn over time. But you really have to read a bin draw a profile and take your best guess. I have came up with game plan that works RISK REWARE extra VALUE and limits. It works for me and we still get burned sometimes. I can't share the formula with you! That would be too easy and you may end up at one of the auctions with me. One last point. Know your auctioneer. There are some really tricky ones. And they don't tell you everything they know. But most are able to study the pictures before the auction. Get profile information on the original owners and in some cases they also go into the lockers before auction day. IF YOUR AUCTIONEER IS ALSO A DEALER.. You don't stand much of a fair chance of winning. If they pull the bin apart they only want others to take the JUNK AWAY and then auction off whats left in the bin as a whole. And they normaly have plant or they end up with it. You just don't know the games the really play! Also note; You can't be sure all the bins are presented on auction day. TRUE some come in and pay up. But lets say there are 10 units But on auction day they only have 6. But the truth may be only 2 or 3 really paid up. One or two bins may never be presented. WHO WOULD KNOW! The best one's and CUT THE LOCK the day of the sale. IT REMOVES ALL THE GAME PLAYING IN THIS BUSINESS. They can take a photo in 2 seconds of the front door and then start the auction. There is NO REASON for anyone to enter a bin until auction DAY! There should be a Regulation in place and inforced for this. Why should anybody need a inventory for somrthing that' s going to be auctioned by the bin or box. IF SO COUNT EVERY TOOTH PICK. I hope this helps.GOOD LUCK An

  • PLANTED ITEMS THE REAL WAR STORIES

Let me share this one last point with you from the REAL battle ground.
I also places a blog here about storage unit BUYING. AND THEY ARE INDEED TRUE. But watch for the set-up items and a tricky acutioneer. More if the bin is pulled apart and sold by the piece. There was this storage chest that the auctioneer told everybody it was LOCK! So we rolled the dice. $200.00 for that locked chest. IT WAS NOT LOCKED! A $200.00 mistake. Nothing but picture frames inside. CHEAP ONES! And if you read the BLOG, You may of read about our GLASS DICK PIPE. If not this came out of a locked safe that cost $80.00 Plus another $30 for the key aand conbination. We waited weeks for the key and combo. With VISIONS OF GOLD & SILVER. And a entrie group standing around. WE OPENED IT......... FOUND PAPER....... AND in a PADDED BAG. OUR REAL PRIZE.... A GLASS DICK.. To this day I feel that safe was PLANTED for us right at the front door! But on the other hand I went to a trusted auction. Ended up with another safe. Paid $60.00 I think. And inside there where 3 Dildos. So I'm thinking this may just be Normal and folks keep them in a safe place. The good news is also in that safe was a pile of $2 bills. About $50.00 worth.. I took them on a Washington DC trip and used them for tips. Not a TOTAL LOST. By the way know anybody who might be interested in a GLASS PENIS PIPE? I got one for sale. I could put it on eBay for you. ONLY $110 bucks. Let me know.

x2 on REGULATION AND PROPER LAWS...
Hit up your county, state and feds... File Complaints over and over.. Have all your friends and family file complaints...
It needs to be done... They a stealing from all of us.. Not just the buyers.
They don't pay taxes on all that stuff that is stolen from the units, prior to auction.... 100's of thousands each week, I'd bet...

    file the complaints NOW.

  • The storage sales are held on weekdays?

I assumed they were held on weekends to attract more buyers. What do you do with the stuff you find? Sell it at a flea market?

  • Re: The REAL STORAGE WARS FAIR & BALANCED FACTS

American Bailout, I learned a lot from your post. I have a friend who turned her family's old egg-laying barns into storage units. If people can't pay, she doesn't have the time or money to save their stuff for them that they shouldn't have left there if it was so valuable. Why do they stick Grandma's blanket in a storage bin and then still not go get it the first month they are unable to pay?

  • Going to another Sale tomorrow I'll let you know the results THE REAL DEAL!

Sometimes they do go back and get things. They will pay up the late fee's grab the goodies and leave the rest and let the unit go. But it's also like someone explained to me. EVER BEEN EVICTED! Your already in the rears. Got to put the stuff somewhere. You can't take a entire house to sombodies house and expect to move in with it. And once your in that game. It's hard to get out of the hole. It just gets deeper.
Also ONCE your past due on your storage unit. Most Storage companies change the gate code on you untill your paid up. Bottom line most folks can't even get in to get to their unit if they are late on their payment. I think they cut the locks after 60 or 90 days.

  • i hate dave hester

even if the storage wars show is a set up. dave is a dick. people that have stores that need to make money for their kids, he will bid them up all the time and you know he doesnt have a wife or kids and if he does, i feel very sorry for them. anyway all he does is think that hes the only one that should be allowed to buy units. he needs to get jacked for his 10gs that he likes to show off in his front shirt pocket that piece of shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also i have had my stuff sold at auction, my pictures from when i grew up to my graduation and prom i was only 18 then, i wish someone would have sent the pictures at least, if i ever get to buy a unit, which i want to, i will give pictures and stuff like that back to the owners for sure.

  • Rights of bidders

First off, no way would I ever put anything I truly valued in a storage locker, like family photos and keepsakes. I know what it is like to loose everything from a fire and then a flood. Guess what? I continued to live my life. It did not stop because I lost some things I wish I hadn't. But those were out of my control. That happens in life. But we carry on. Second, like the auctioneer says, if you have the money in your pocket, the locker can be yours. I don't care who it is, or how much money they have, they have a right to bid on the lockers, and once they win, the contents belong to the bidder to do as they please with it. It is not the bidder's fault that the owner of the stuff didn't make the monthly payments. Personally, I think I would have sold my stuff myself if I couldn't make the storage payments. Thirdly, there seems to be storage lockers everywhere these days. If there is a bidder that needs those lockers to support their kids, then why not find lockers that aren't a part of a tv show? I'm sure the cameras are in plain sight. So, if you see the cameras, why not just stay out of the bidding? If you can't compete with the big boys, then you need to change playgrounds. And fourth, this is a tv show meant to entertain! If you are not enjoying it, change the channel people! Do allow this to get under your skin if it doesn't personally affect you.
It's the weekend, get out and smell the flowers, enjoy the sunshine( or even the rain) and have fun!

  • Re: The REAL STORAGE WARS FAIR & BALANCED FACTS

Connie, I am a fan of the show, and it does entertain me. However, personal papers and pictures are of no value to anybody but the original owner of said items. If it were me purchasing a locker, I would make every effort to return these items to the owner simply because it's the right thing to do, and within my control. Then I'd feel much better about going out and smelling the flowers, and enjoying some fun in the sun.

Dachat, I couldn't agree more! That is what you and I would do, return those items to the owners. But when you win a locker, it's not written that you have to do that. And probably, most people don't. And that is too bad. That's all I was getting at.
