  • Dave Hester Yuuuup!! YOU'RE FIRED!

I had to join this discussion on AETV just to talk about Storage Wars. I like everyone on the show except

Dave Hester, he is a narcissistic, sociopathic, troll with a Napoleon complex. He talks down to everyone

On the show, and pushes up bids to people who are just trying to make a living. He had to start somewhere too, but he has to show everyone how much money he has by screwing people out of something he is not really interested in just to screw them. I saw the episode with his own brother was bidding against him, and not having any type of dialogue with him, even his own family can’t stand him.

The episode when Jarrod, and him went toe to toe and his wife told him to “kick Dave’s ass” Jarrod should have, Brandi should have been the guy in that one, personally I would have made sure his jaw was wired shut as soon as his breath hit my face.

I can’t stand him, and would not care if you replaced him with someone else, he’s not entertaining, he’s

insecure, insulting, and totally unlikeable. There has got to be someone out there who would make the show better. There is no one on TV I dislike more than this imbecile, yuuuuup!!

Barry is very entertaining, Darrell is a cool guy, Brandi and Jarrod are a good couple and also entertaining, best thing they could do for Dave Hester is say Yuuuup!! YOUR FIRED!

  • Not a big surprise

As far as I'm concerned, NOTHING about this whole situation is a surprise.  For one, the odds of these people finding as many valuable items as they do is astronomical.  Think about it rationally for a second... if someone is having financial difficulties, don't you think they'd go to their storage units BEFORE they end up several months behind in the rent and take out all the obviously valuable stuff?  Sure, there could be those "hidden treasures" that had value that the original owners of the item didn't realize.  So the fact that the producers "salt" the lockers is not a surprise.

What's also not a surprise is the fact that Dave Hester is likened to a feminine hygiene product one might use on a Summer's Eve... and the bag it came in.  Granted, every character on the show bids each other up, but Dave very much strikes me as a bit of a sociopath.  I figured that maybe that was just the "character" he played, but this lawsuit removes any doubt that he's a sociopath.

I usually put the show on when I'm busy doing something on the computer, just for background noise.  I never liked Dave and I won't miss him on the show.

But let's be frank... this show is brought to you by the same network that airs "Duck Dynasty," one of the STUPIDEST, most ANNOYING shows on television aside from "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."  I honestly believe that the producers of A&E are hopelessly hooked on really bad crack.  A&E used to stand for Arts & Entertainment.  And while watching a bunch of backwoods hicks on Duck Dynasty or watching a bunch of SoCal boobs bid each other up for fake lockers may be "entertaining" to a degree, it is yet another shining example of how reality television is anything but, and even the lamest of ideas can garner a contract where you're paid tens of thousands of dollars per episode.

But the blame falls squarely on we, the viewers.  8.6 MILLION morons watched the Duck Dynasty season premiere.  Millions of people flock to these "reality" television shows (and yes, I'm one of them) and as long as we do, we further enable not only the Dave Hester's of the world, but the inbred & inane idiots of reality shows everywhere.  In short, we created these monsters.  It's Frankenstein in 1080p.

It baffles me that people are actually defending Dave Hester. I don't think I have ever disliked anyone as much as I do this idiot. Script or not, staged or not, real or not, Dave has SERIOUS issues. To suggest that for every one that dislikes him there is one that likes him is asinine. Whip out you google and do a little research. If there is a big support group for this pathetic waste, then they are amazingly silent about it. If you like Dave, then you yourself might need to seek professional help. As for me, my favorite episodes are the ones where he is crying about his failed business and the ones he didn't make an appearance on.

A&E used to have some cool shows from the BBC's archives, but sadly they jumped on the reality show band wagon with everybody else. They also were the same channel that ran Timothy Hutton's Nero Wolfe and Gene Wilder's "Murder in a Small Town" and its follow up. I liked that stuff and am sad it has come to such a pass as Duck Dynasty.
For the record, I don't watch Duck Dynasty. Never did.As far as Hester-I never liked him that much. But you need villains and he fit the bill. The one that bugs the crap out of me to no end is Darrell. He yaps on about how he is "tricking" others into overbidding (considering that no one knows what is hiding in these lockers-how does he know there isn't a signed Mickey Mantle baseball hiding in one of those boxes?), gads on about how much his crap is worth and uses every American Idol cliche in the book ("wow factor"). I actually cheer when he gets a worthless pile of crap. As far as good shit in lockers-I wished I had known when my friends' locker went up for auction, cuz they had some rare role playing game stuff. The thing is, people can and do leave valuable things in lockers. They might forget they have it, might not think it is valuable or some other reason. You'd be surprised at the things people leave around like trash.

Think you need to reconsider the firing of Dave Hester! Without Dave the show won't have the same dynamic. He is one of the main characters of this show. Certainly hope you don't replace him with either Jeff or Nabila! Jeff is a whiner & Nabila doesn't have a strong enough character.

From my perspective --GET DAVE BACK ON THE SHOW! STUPID move A & E!!! You will lose your clout I believe without him. Oh I know --many watchers hate him. But that is his role & part of the appeal or hatred. GET HIM BACK! I realize that he is suing you --so settle the suit & get back to work!!!

A somewhat disappointed "Storage Wars" fan!

I could not agree more!!! Dave was my favorite so I won't be watching Storage Wars anymore!

  • Is it real

What's the real story?  He made mistakes, like bidding up the wrong lockers.  In that game, you give and take.  He tried to take what wasn't his.  OR...was he cut out by the others?  One show said he was about out of money.  Barry, you keep on rockin'.  You must have known those Wilson kids?

  • Dave is a horrible human being

I hope they NEVER bring Dave "The Jerk" Hester back to the show. He has to be the most condescending jerk and I dont like watching the repeats with him in it. sometimes his voice just makes me want to throw up. Thank you A&E for taking out the trash!

He's such a little person and he wants to be big. Never gona happen to a jerk that rips off the goodwill stores. He's easily replaced. Just flush the crap down the little hole made for his kind.

  • Dave Hester Promise he is gone please!

    Hi:

I had to reply to the discussion about Dave Hester "Your fired" Please tell me he is gone forever.

I was going to stop watching I could not stand his voice, his pathology he ruined the show and made it the face of the worst that can be in a human being.

If he is gone like tonight's show I will watch and enjoy it and everyone who is on storage wars. Now they can bid and get lockers for what they are really worth and make their living from. But Dave just spitefully bid and raised the prices. To me he is a very very sick man and a bad example of what a person should be like personally or in business.

I just hope you make the right decision and keep he "fired" the show can't do worse without him. Love everyone else. I do think Barry needs a good partner he just doesn't know how to pick lockers yet he is a gem he needs a lady friend to help him.

Thank you for your best decision for the show and for kids to watch and see that there are really fair and respectful people in competition with each other yet they play fair and show respect for their competitors.

  • My interest is gone.

A year ago Since adding this show to my weekly DVR I have gown accustom to many people. Dave may have frustrated you but that is what makes for an interesting show. Change can be good if done right. Opps, I think someone blew it. Just another farce! This show leaves my DVR. Brandi, Jarrod, Barry and Darrel will not hold everyone's interest. Ivy is a great addition. Texans in SoCal-not working here! Good luck!
