I have wathched the First 48 hours on several occassions , however i do enjoy the show and find that it has a lot of suspense and interesting stories. However I couldnt help but to notice that it mostly features blacks and other minorities. I think that the reason society today thinks that Black people are " scary", " violent", " ghetto", "poor", " dangerous" is because of the fact that the media loves to broadcast and expose them more so than other races. I know for a fact that as much crime that happens in the black community is the same if not less than the white community or other ethnicities. You see blacks are not supposed to be looked at in a positive way, considering times of slavery and segregation. They are the ones that are not supposed to become valuable members of society and to always be put on a lower hierarchy than whites. Thats the reason many people are " scared of blacks", and is the most hated race in america. White people are the main ones who like to cover up their own faults, it makes them feel better and be looked upon as the superior race when their own faults are hidden and someone elses are brought to light, which is what blinds everyone to the fact that whites are the same as anybody else. It saddens my heart that skin color itself can bring so much hate and disrespect. my question is Why? Why does skin color have determine the way we judge one another? as well all know the reason skin becomes dark is because of the amount of melanin in the skin. so does the amount of color in your skin determine how you get looked at and treated? i just dont understand this hate. The truth of the matter is that Blacks are " bad people" is because society wants them to be seen as that way. You never once see postive things shown about blacks, and trust me there is a lot. They are the ones who came up with some of the things we use everyday such as the Light Bulb and the Traffic light. They are as smart as anyone else. all i ask is that Society stops depicting and broadcasting so many bad things about blacks.

Okay everybody I had a really long post on here and somehow it got deleted so here i go again, and whoever runs this website PLEASE DONT DELETE ANY OF MY POST! Its funny because i said some really positive things in that post and now all of a sudden its been deleted somehow. Id love to see how long this one stays up. First and foremost I am a 24 year old African American Woman, currently in Nursing School. I have many friends from different kinds of backgrounds from Asians, Indians, Mexicans, Whites and Blacks and more. I ABSOLUTELY have no Racism at all in my heart and frankly I wasnt raised that way. I grew up Half of my life in Chicago in some of the worstest neighborhoods you can go to. Then My mom moved us to the surburbs where I was able to be around people of all races and ethnicities and I have always appreciated how alike and how different we are as a human race. I love everyone of every color and background. Please know that! however I have so much anger in my heart as to the fact that this country loves to portray my black brothers and sisters in the wrong ways. Everytime I turn on to my local news channel I see black men displayed negatively as either murders, drug dealers, rapist, robbers etc... Okay! To tell you the truth I have gotten so used to it but now its starting to break my heart. My people have done so many good things that are always being overlooked in society! I can count on one hand of how many programs I see on tv that displays the positive things that my Black People are doing. The show " The First 48" is one of my favorite shows, I love the suspense, and the way the law enforcement solves those crimes. by no means am i trying to turn people away from this program or make them look bad, please dont twist my words, if anything i encourge people to watch this show" and this is not the only show that I have notice to display such things, mind you. I also find it very INTERESTING that there are more black faces than any other race on this show. Now we all know that as Criminals come from many racial backgrounds. I can't help to wonder this show cant hit up some other neighborhoods other than the Black ones. We all know the many stereotypes that follow blacks: poor, ghetto, dumb, low class etc. I feel that society and the Media is mostly responsible for how we are seen as a race! Can you tell me and acutually name some shows on tv that actually show the positive things that are going on in the African American Community. and for those of you who's telling me to " STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHATS ON TV" ! WITH ALL DO RESPECT kiss my butt! the ones who are saying that are the ones who are not being affected by it! You People have no idea of what its like to walk a day in a black person shoes. Im so tired of the negative stereotypes that my black people face. Can you answer this question then? Why are there not any other shows that display WHITE CRIME AS MUCH AS BLACK CRIME. We all know that crime happens in the surburbs as much as if not the same amount as it does in black neighborhoods and you know why you dont know that or see that on tv? Its because its being covered up,! Its all being planned that way and apologize if i have offended any one in any way shape or form. Kiss my butt too. because if this were the same thing happening in your community you would feel the same way. and let me tell you i am too busy of a person to worry about what happening on tv but when i see how bad its affecting me and my community you betta believe im just not going to stand by and watch this happend i will speak my mind! and its not like i wanna see any particular race being displayed on tv in a negative race, I just ask the question why does it always have to be my black people being displayed in such a negative way all the time? i would love for someone to answer this question and stop trying to dodge it, this is exactly what im talking about everybody is trying to make me seem like the bad person here when all i ask for is a honest answer to my question!

I've been watching this show for a very long time, the reason being I like it. From the start though, it appeared to me that the percentage
Regardless of the races of the people who are getting killed/doing the killing, why don't you focus on the fact that THE DETECTIVES represent a great diversity in our population? They are all different races, men and women, wide ranging ages, from different backgrounds and even different countries. Some are better suited to understand "the streets", while others' disconnect from "the streets" makes them better able to see the situation for what it is and not let the street mentality cloud their judgement. Most of the cities where the episodes are filmed contain very large minority populations, so it only stands to reason that a lot of the victims/suspects are minorities. Phoenix, my hometown, has a very large hispanic population but only about 4% are black. Imagine my surprise to see a case featuring black victims/suspects. There were also several Phoenix Fist 48 episodes that featured white people (drug deal gone bad, OZ ice rink murder immediately come to mind). I'm sure if this show only featured white victims/suspects, you'd be on here complaining that the show didn't care about all the black/hispanic people being killed. Will nothing satisfy you??? Why don't you enjoy the show for what it's worth? Great cops from around the country solving difficult crimes and getting the bad guys off the street?

I'm sure you meant somebody instead of so body, well to start, FBI stats show that blacks commit 75% of all crime, thats the reason prisons are 75% black inmates, and 90% of the shows (an I have never missed a one) are in black neighborho
We can debate the reasons why minorities
We can debate the reasons why minorities perpetrate (and I am a black dude) more crimes than whites. In this country, white people are afforded more opportunities to make more money because of their upbringing and higher education. We, as black people DO have those same opportunities but far too many of us do not take advantage of these opportunities, especially black men. The importance of college is not stressed enough in our homes. So to answer your question, minorities are responsible for most violent crimes in america so it's only natural that they would be featured on these types of shows. If you ever watch a show called American Greed, you will see a large amount of non minorities because this show deals with scams and white collar crimes.

Why is it that everyone tries to make everything about race??? Lets look at statistics here for a min. Crime rate IS higher in lower income neighborhoods, where drugs and gangs are most prominent. Projects if you will. Well who lives in those projects?? Mainly black and hispanic people. I doubt they choose this intentionally, but if you watch these shows, then most of them relate to drugs and gangs, and most of the crimes and stuff happen in those types of areas. It has nothing to do with race!! Grow up and quit playing the race card. Im so sick of it!!!
And I am really tired of people saying there is no race card to be played. Let's face it folks - there still is a lot of racism in this country and as long as there is then cards can be dealt. If you don't think there is racism in the U.S of A then let me introduce you to my neighbor, and my husband's boss and my brother. I can literally throw a stone and hit a racist. So, though I don't agree with all the nurse poster wrote I do think that she has a right in being sensitive to the issue at hand.
And , may I make a hypothesis- first,-yes, there are a lot of crimes done by black people , there is a large populatiopn of black people in projects and the crips (originally the cribs ) and the bloods(is that right?) were started by black people BUT and this is a big BUT- why do you think that is? Could it be that it it was just a very short time ago that black people couldn't drink out of the same drinking fountains as white people? Or that only 50 years ago- 50 short years ago a black kid could get wallopped for looking at a white woman. A generation ago white people treated black people like they were second- hand citizens, white people would not hire black people, white people would not sell homes to a person because of their dark skin. And then we wonder- 'huh, I wonder why there is so much crime in the black community?'. IMO ANY race that was subjected to the things African Americans were would be in the same place. It is up to all Americans to remember our past. To learn from our mistakes. I am not excusing anyone from any crime but I just think there are obvious reasons as to why there is unrest in the black community.

I find it kind of odd that most of the people that have been saying that this show is a racist show, all indicate that they have seen a few episodes or watched on occasion. How can you just if you have not seen all of the episodes?
I urge all of you who want to judge based on "a few episodes" to go view ALL of the episodes and then make your judgement. It is not fair to judge ONLY WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN, not what the true deal is.
In addition, you life must be horrid to have to spend so much time acting like everyone is keeping you and your race down. Why not look at ANYTHING positive, what about all of the black or hispanic DETECTIVES that are shown on it. Should the "white" race be offended because FEW of the white race detectives are shown?
I takes so much time and energy out of you to ALWAYS have something to be angry about. Maybe you should take it for what it is and realize THAT THE WORLD IS NOT AGAINST you and maybe you should just live and let others live without always looking for an ulterior motive.
